This is a thing of sheer beauty.
This is one of them films where you go in for the first time and have absolutely no idea what to expect. As a character, this is perhaps the biggest role Gal Gadot had ever taken on and it's safe to say she absolutely nailed it. I think it is definitely a film that every single person alive must watch at least once in their life because 'Wonder Woman' is a beautiful film. The colour absolutely makes it for me, it is just so rich throughout and the tonal contrasts perfectly fit in with the scenery, "this beautiful place". Now, I could go into every fine detail that I love about this film, and I probably will. The acting is superb. I've already said it but Gal Gadot is superb as both Diana Prince and Wonder Woman. Chris Pine is never not amazing so, as per, no faults for his portrayal of Steve Trevor either. Then, we have Patty Jenkins. No, not for an acting credit, but for impeccable directing.
Moving on from this, we have an outstanding storyline. It really is realistic in the sense of confusion, belief and passion, particularly from Diana Prince and Steve Trevor. Both have emotional journeys and both suffer throughout (because it wouldn't be a superhero movie without suffering). The villain in this film is perhaps the greatest talking point because it is executed to perfection. I love the twist, I love the action and how it is portrayed. The other directors and screenwriters should take note of how well it has been done in this, in particular, the rest of the DCEU.
To me, this is one of the most influential films of the 2010s, and perhaps ever. It broke records, and more importantly, it put DC back in the film conversation following the absolute wrecks of 'Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice' and 'Suicide Squad'. Let's face it, DCEU movies have a tendency to be durable, some have been horrendous but there have one or two pearls dropped too. Alongside my favourite rendition of Superman, 'Wonder Woman' is the best DC have on offer and it's miles ahead everyone else in the Justice League.
I love everything about this film and my only problem is that the sequel has been delayed but not much any of us can do there. Personally, I think this is by far the best movie in the DCEU and anyone who says 'Shazam!' or 'Aquaman' are better need to get their eyes tested. This is modern art!
