John Wick (2014)

Isn't this film fun? Like from start to finish fun. Yeah, I thought so. 'John Wick' is an action film masterpiece and it's not even the best one in the franchise. Following the story of a retired assassin, John Wick endures in this film. I mean it's been out long enough to know you don't kill this man's dog, or steal his car. Although I would be very mad and upset, I don't think the vast majority of us would even come close to performing what Keanu Reeves does in this role. As I said, this film is action-packed, accompanied by relative humour and a tragic story. All of that is done really well, but it's nothing new. Action films tend to be about one or a group of people that tend to somehow perform impossible amounts of fighting in around two hours of screen time. And despite referencing how he killed "three men in a bar... with a pencil", the fun novelty does sort of run dry after a few times watching this. Obviously, I'm not taking away from the fact that some of the stuff he does in this film is incredible and you pray this never happens to you, but after three or four times, you're ready to see something new. Fortunately, for us, 'John Wick: Chapter 2' exists and we follow straight on into that.
