Inception (2010)

To be honest, there are just some things we will never truly understand...

I am at a loss for words. I have seen some incredible films in my life but this is up there with the very best. Christopher Nolan at his finest here with 'Inception', and it's safe to say that this is a timeless masterpiece. Ten years on and science still hasn't caught up with what this film can do or achieve. I can honestly say that I have never seen a film as complex as this. It is insane, it's gripping and most importantly, it is still enjoyable. The casting is absolutely perfect with stellar performances from Leonardo DiCaprio and Ellen Page, in particular. "What is the most resilient parasite? Bacteria? A virus? An intestinal worm? An idea." I think Nolan took this literally. The idea behind this movie is mind-blowing, stretches the bare grasp of humanity with reality and pushes it far beyond reach. It is one of the most intelligent films I have ever seen, if not the most, and just thinking about it really puts me into such an explorative mood where I want to understand more about the movie and the concepts it presents. I am in awe of this, and it is certainly a film that will be adored and explored for years to come, not only by film-lovers but by those crazy and smart enough to make the ideas in this film a reality. I'd be up for a trial.

What I love most about this film is the uniqueness. There isn't much or hardly anything out there that lines up with this. It is so different that it is hard to categorise. 'Inception' really is a once-in-a-generation film, and it has aged beautifully, too. We are now ten years on and what we see is still far beyond comprehension and reasoning, but it works perfectly. I have never heard a bad word about this film, and of course, everyone is going to have an opinion on this, but for ten years to have flown by and not a single bad word spoken to me about it really proves just how amazing it is. By no means am I saying this is the best film ever made, and it doesn't top 'The Dark Knight', but it really holds its own against some of the very best ever, and for Nolan to have at least two up there is not only an achievement to him but proof that he is a genius and should be protected at all costs.
