Favourite Performance of 2019

Florence Pugh takes the crown.

I have been sitting on this idea for a while now, but I finally decided to act on it. I want to dedicate a post to one of my favourite years of cinema to date, 2019. More importantly, I wanted to dedicate a post to Florence Pugh, who I personally think had the best year of performances of anyone in 2019. We got to see her as Dani in MIdsommar' and Amy in 'Little Women'. Anyone who knows me knows my opinion on 'Midsommar', it is perhaps my favourite horror movie ever, and her performance being snubbed at the Oscars is borderline a crime. What amazes me is her transition from Dani to Amy, they are such polar opposite characters and it's this type of stuff I love to see from actors. Florence Pugh had an amazing 2019, absolutely amazing. I personally think that her performance as Amy stole the show in 'Little Women', and the cast is incredible. Just her emotional range throughout the film is absolutely incredible. Despite me not wholeheartedly loving that film, I didn't enjoy it because it's not my type of film. That does not say it's bad, it's very good and deserved all of the praise it got during the award season.

Looking forward, however, we are going to be blessed with another incredible talent joining the MCU in 'Black Widow' (I can't wait to see it). For me, seeing how she handles this type of movie is going to be the biggest thing I look forward to seeing in that movie, and whether or not she takes over Scarlett Johansson's mantle as Black Widow. Whatever the outcome, I have 100% confidence that she will nail it.
