Favourite Male Actor

And the winner is...

This goes without saying, I definitely think that there could have been four or five people fighting for this spot. However, Christian Bale is perhaps my favourite actor of all time. He has had countless roles that have been fantastic. His portrayal as Bruce Wayne is indeed my favourite of the character, I think he's magnificent. However, his role in 'The Fighter' is my favourite performance of his. He is fantastic in that and was entirely deserving of the Oscar - it really was a show stopper. Now, we have roles such as this that really explore how versatile he is as an actor, but we must recognise his commitment to his job, and that is most seen through his body transformations for the roles. From 'The Machinist' to then playing Bruce Wayne within a matter of months is incredible, and then we go to the other end of the spectrum where he piled on the pounds for his roles in 'American Hustle' and 'Vice'. One thing for sure is that Bale is perhaps the most committed actor out there, and that is reflected in performance after performance that just leaves your jaw scraping the floor.

Most recently, we saw him in 'Ford v Ferrari', a film that was, in fact, one of my favourite films of 2019, one that I thought flew under the radar in the movie conversation. His Ken Miles was incredible, and even as it is a true story, you can feel the exact temperament of his character coming through, where to the point he wasn't acting, he was moving into someone else. It was incredible, and it's something that Bale has done time and time again. Thank you so much for the years of service and to many more, you are my favourite!
